new messages crossing with old messages

Ocassionally I will have new messages come in with an old subject line and
date and it seems as if the body of the new message gets crossed with some
old message header information (including prior date, to/from contacts,
subject line). I will shut down Outlook and reboot and then the issue goes
away for a while. I have scanned the machine for a virus and none was found.
Has anyone every experienced this or heard of something like this? It seems
the issue is happening locally in my Outlook. I have asked others who are
copied on the email and they are not receiving anything???

Scanned your pst-file for errors already?

Without any configuration details to work with, it's hard to be anymore
specific. Also your last question is no a question towards us but towards
yourself. We cannot possibly answer that question; it's up to you to find
out if the sender indeed sent that message or if you received some "ghost"
message. Knowing that, would be crucial to the troubleshooting process.

I am seeing this problem with Outlook 2007. My group supports nearly 1000 PC in a Windows domain, below are the facts. In the last week the problem below has cropped up on nearly 15 client machines.
Windows XP or Vista
Office 2007
The problem as seen:
The From & Subject are crossing with the text body of other emails. So basically a message from John Doe will appear to be sent by John Doe2 in Outlook.
Clients are IMAP.
When we logged into the IMAP WEB mail server, the mail looked fine.

We are running the scanpst tool and may even create new PST's and move the mail.
I am a little concerned because this is appearing on a large number of machines all at the same time, did a a recent patch break the client?
