Dear members:

This is my first post after joining the list so please forgive me if my
questions has been discussed here before.

I am running the latest version of Microsoft Office 2004 and enjoy working
with Word in the new Notebook layout view. The only problem I have found is
the difference between the layout on screen and on paper. I haven't been
able to find a way to print the lines or rules that appear on the Notebook.
Is there a way to force notebook lines to print ? In case there is, can the
color and the thickness be selected ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Warm regards,

No, they can't be printed. It has been requested by others, but your
request here should be logged by MacBU.

They have looked into the option of making Notebook View print the lines it
shows on screen.

The current decision is that there are not enough requests for it to justify
the cost of doing it. As with every other decision on Mac Office, that
decision is reviewed for every planned new version of the product.

So while the decision is "not for the next version", if you keep asking, and
enough of us keep asking, they may well make a different decision for the
version after next.

The problem with this particular request is that the lines "do not exist" in
the file, and it is difficult to print things that do not exist. They would
have to create code to create the lines, go through your document, and add
them in between the text without upsetting the way the document currently
prints. Not a particularly easy job, it would require quite a bit of
coding.

The current lines are just a display artefact they produce by flipping
pixels while drawing the screen: a much easier task :)

Cheers

I really want this option as well, can we please have someone look into
this!
