New Office Document doesn't open Word

I had trouble with Word 9(ME) on our second computer. I
renamed the normal.dot file and now can access Word from
the Programs menu okay. However, Word doesn't open from
the New Office Document under the Start menu. Any ideas on
what I can do to correct this?
