New page will not sort data

I receive this error when I try to srt new imputed info into my spreadsheet.
I have it organized in a tabe and have removed excess lines and columns.
The error message is ( Excel cannot complete this task with available
resources. Choose less data or closeother applications. I have tried closing
programs that are running in the background, still not able to sort info A-Z.
