I just started having an email problem today. I have MS
Office 2000 and XP Pro, and a DSL line, and haven't had
any problems until this morning. I can't send or receive
any mail. I talked to the tech support at the DSL line
and he said it's probably a "hiccup" in my Office s/w. I
get 2 errors: 1) messages couldn't be rectrieved from
server. This usually happens when the connection to the
server is lost. And, 2) Download error #O80040403

Sometimes, it can indeed be a glitch in Office. Have you tried rebooting?
I've seen similar symptoms on one of our systems from time to time, and
rebooting fixes the problem.

It can also be caused by a registry glitch, in which case creating a new
profile can fix the problem.

But, before trying to launch into something complicated, let us know if
you've tried rebooting.

Yes, I did reboot. I also uninstalled MS Office and re-
installed it. And, I ran the detect & repair, and none
of that has helped.
