New Project Plan but want to keep old workspace

Hi, I have a completely new and very different project plan which needs to
superceede the existing one but I must keep the existing workspace and enure
it is linked to the new one, is this possible? Or must I eg delete all the
tasks in the existing plan and then copy and paste the new plan tasks into
the existing (empty of tasks) plan?
