New Project Start question

Hello,

Please bear with me a bit as I am new to Project Pro 2007.

I am starting a new file in Project. I'm using the Guide to get me started.
I have gotten to the part where it asks to start entering my Tasks (and
durations, etc). I'm not quite sure if I am following the whole gist of
Project here...

My scenario is this: On paper, I have a list (call it a "master list"), of
nearly 25 different "projects" we are doing. In my Master List, I keep track
of each of those projects and how each is going. My Master List also has an
"Index" page which gives the CEO an "over view" of the latest updates on
things.

So.. my question is this... in Project Pro, am I going to have to create a
whole new Project for each of my 25 "projects"??

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
avimia

Hi avimia,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You can enter all of your projects into one big file, but in my opinion it
is best to keep projects separate. It might seem a good idea at first, but
you could well run into trouble when a project is completed or cancelled in
knowing what to do with it. Keeping them separate is much cleaner in this
respect. With separate files, you can easily create a master file by
importing them, which will give you the overview you're after. I cover the
techniques in my series on Microsoft Project in the TechTrax ezine, at this
site: http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the articles before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
