New Search Will Not Activate

I go to : Tools>Options>Search Options
and it will NOT let me check the box for my mailbox, thus I'm really
struggling with no search utility as I uninstalled Google Desktop. I have MS
Search 3.0 installed
Have reinstalled software and a plethora of other remedies.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
