New Tasks Assigned To Me

Hello,

I have assigned Tasks to myself in a project and I receive the notification
in teh Reminders in PWA that I have 3 new tasks assigned to me, but when I
click on my tasks it is empty?

Any ideas?

Thanks

If the tasks are outside of the "Current tasks" window, the default of which
is a 2-week look ahead, then you will not see those new tasks by default on
the My Tasks page. To see the tasks, click the Settings pick list button
and select the View Options item. In the expanded View Options pane,
deselect the "Show Only Current Tasks" option and then click the Apply
button. If you still do not see the tasks, then click the My Tasks link in
the Quick Launch menu on the left to redisplay the page. Hope this helps.

Genius, many thanks.

I have a follow-on issue. I added tasks to a second user in the same manner
but when I go to PWA even though I can see the project no new taks are
showing in the reminders, any ideas?

Thanks

Did you actually log into PWA as the second user? If so, open the
enterprise project in Project Professional 2007 and then click Tools - Build
Team from Enterprise. In the list of team members on the right side of the
dialog, is the second user set to Committed or Proposed? If the user is set
to Proposed, task assignments do not appear on the user's My Tasks page in
PWA. Change the Booking value to Committed and then publish the project
again. Let us know if this helps.

Just a quick Question,

when I add a new resource ( a user from active directory) to MS project and
then publish it to the PWA, do I then have to give that user access to the
PWA and to the project workspace?

Thanks

Oops! You are not using the tool correctly, my friend. That is NOT how to
add a resource to a project. You need to add team members from the
Enterprise Resource Pool. Has your Project Server administrator actually
created the Enterprise Resource Pool yet? Let us know.

Hi,

I dont think we have set up the Enterprise Resource Pool, is that done in
the PWA or MS Project, if you can let me know the steps to set it up that
would be great.

Cheers

You have much to learn, my friend, and this forum is not where you can get
free training on Project Server 2007. You can create the Enterprise
Resource Pool from either PWA in the Resource Center page or you can do so
in Project Professional 2007 using Tools - Enterprise Options - Open
Enterprise Resource Pool. It should be apparent to you by now that Project
Server 2007 is not intuitive in the least (to configure or to use), so I
would recommend you either invest in formal training or you buy a book to
assist you. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much, I think the problem was that I was adding the users direct
to MS project, I guess you need to add them as a resource 1st.

I actually had all this working without problem over a year and a half ago
but no one in my organisation was interested so i am having another go at
trying to get theminterested.

Cheers

You are more than welcome for the help, my friend! :) And good luck with
getting others interested in Project Server 2007.
