New Template Landscape Default?

N

Nancy Docken

Hi,

I'm working on a huge flowchart project where our default
is landscape flowcharts. Is there any way I can make my
new template default to landscape as well?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nancy,

Create a new template by saving a blank drawing as a template (*.vst or
*.vtx) after changing the page properties and having the stencils open that
you want. You could take the opportunity to create a corporate title block
with logo on a background page.

You can have a fancy preview image appear in the File \ New \ Category
browser if you want.
How you make it appear in your own category depends on the version of Visio
that you are using. In Visio 2003 you preferably need to use the Publsih
Component tool in the Visio 2003 SDK, or you can edit the Tools \ Options \
Advanced \ File Paths to point the Template path to the folder where your
template resides.
In earlier versions you used the Tools \ Options \ File Paths to do similar.

If you have set up File/Page Setup in your "draft" template then
actually saved the file as a template within the C:\Program
Files\Visio\Solutions\"MyTemplates" ("MyTemplates" being a sub folder
you create here - no quotes!)
You should be able to open your template via File/New/"MyTemplates" and
the page layout should remain landscape.
