New to Portfolio Server

I am just starting to work with Microsoft Portfolio Server and I have
not been able to find a user guide, in the Microsoft site, which
focuses on the configuration of the tool. Would anyone know where I
can find such document? For instance one of my question is: when
setting up a new account under the "Settings" section, what is the
impact of the value selected in the following attribute:
"Applications: Transformation Decision Horizon (years)"? Thank you in

In the future, please post your EPM questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is dedicated to
questions about the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer
your question, to date no one has written a book about Project Portfolio
Server 2007. I suppose this is because of the extremely small market for
the tool and a book about it. On the other hand, you can download a copy of
the deployment guide from Microsoft at:

I don't know what the portfolio server is as this newsgroup is for Microsoft
Project. If you're using it in conjunction with project, try posting on the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project
