New to resource leveling - need help

I must schedule the design of hundreds of tools - many with different
durations. I have three tool designers. The schedule start and complete
of each tool are constrained and must start and complete on a fixed date
(fixed duration / not effort driven). How can Project allocate and level
load the resources for me?

Must I assign all three resources to each task and then level?
Can Project spread the resources over all the tasks for me?

Hi,

I'm afraid you are starting from the wrong foot.
if you want to fix it all, start and finish, then Project cannot do
anyhting, definitely not Resource Leveling.
Leveling does not spread resources (not, not at all, never, forget it). You
assign the resources to the tasks and in case of an overallocation, Leveling
will delay the task(s) with the lowest priority to resolve the
overallocations.
But when you will fix all the dates, all you will get is messages "Leveling
cannpot resolve the overallocation..."

Can you truly imagine a software calculating the plan for you?
If you do, I will be more than willing to guide you.

Given your constraints you have only two options to resolve overallocations
(1) Add additional resources, (2) Work more hours in each day.
