New trial will not work

I have purchased a used computer and tried to download a trial version of
home and student. It tells me that my trial has already expired when I never
had a trial to begin with. I checked and cannot find any version in the
programs folder . Please help.

What do you find when you search for "office" in your registry using
Regedit? Not finding obvious files is no guarantee that the previous owner
did not use a trial Office.
