Hi, I'm looking to anyone who might be able to guide me in the right direction.

Basically, I want to create a database in access that will do a simple
Purchase Order Processing database. Generally one that inrements an order
number, allows me to assign a product or several products to that order
number, allocate it to a customer, and then print the order with supplier
details ready to be faxed.

Then, if possible, when the stick arrives, allocate it to our stock list, or
to a customer, and also act as a stock check list to search for products.

So, all i'm asking really is where can I find a useful on-line guide to
starting the creation of such database? I'm quite competent in computing,
it's just that i've never looked at Access before now.

Any help much appreciated.

Ian the most cost effective way for you to get such as database would be to
buy John Viescas' book, "Building Access Applications", (Microsoft Press,
2005.)

The CD that comes with the book includes an inventory management
application. It does ordering from inventory, purchase orders, posting
received items into inventory, and creating customer invoices. If you think
of the book as a surperb piece of documentation explaining how it works, you
get the hard work (the database) for free.

Just to be clear, there's nothing in it for me in recommending John's book
for you, but I cannot think of a better or more cost effective solution for
getting up and running fast, and still having the documentation and source
code to understand it and adapt it in any way you choose in the future.
