Yes. It will be out in the same time frame as the next version of Office -
sometime in 2006. Nothing has been publicly stated by Microsoft, but I
expect announcements during the PDC gathering which is next week.

Probably late 2006 release for Office and OneNote.
Sad.

Maybe if everyone gets mad, OneNote will get a 1.5 release.

But then again, no one bought the app. It just came free with their
TPC.

EMRHelp.org: Please. "no one bought the app". Where do you get this stuff?
Sorry to be rude, but this month we just closed a deal for >50,000 units at
a major corporation (something we do reasonably often), and we are adding
100,000 new users of the full version (not trial) *every month*, a number
which grows every month, and only a fraction of whom got it with their PC
(not just Tablet PC). I am not allowed to quote actual sales figures, but at
least I have them...can you say the same?

We'll be announcing the new capabilities of OneNote "12" (well, most of
them) at PDC (Professional Developer's Conference) next week.

I purchased OneNote recently and think the product is great...and I'm running
it on my laptop not a Tablet PC.

I evaluated and bought the product following a recommendation from a
colleague, who incidentally purchased it (it wasn't preloaded) and runs it on
his desktop (not a TPC).

Suddenly, you've got me VERY interested in PDC next week :)

I assume the event will be blogged as well as covered by the usual online
news outlets (CNET, EWeek etc)?

I bought my copy of OneNote. I find it useful for my correspondence
courses (study notes) and for business meetings. Since I will be
teaching next month, I have upgraded to a webcam and will be recording
my lectures to my students. That is to enable me to review how I teach
and how to improve my teaching.

Yee Haw! Can't wait to find out what I have to look forward to in the next
version - I have seen so many fantastic suggestions on this board, and thrown
out a couple of my own - v. excited about "12".

That's because nothing has been announced regarding OneNote, and it is not
under the same product team.

"That's because nothing has been announced regarding OneNote, and it is
not
under the same product team [as Office 12]. "

and maybe that's why OneNote has poor integration with Office.
and no VBA.
and no OLE.
and no meaningful integration with Windows Explorer (and the windows
filesystem).
and OneNote doesnt get a big enough Development budget ...
and ...
