Lauren's headache

Just installed a new internet hughes satillite with a router and wireless
connection to my laptop. I can still upload files with frontpage using the
"FTP", but not using the "Front Page" server...

I double checked by going back on line through my phone line with the old
peoplepc slug a lug.... and it works fine .. all be it... slooooow.

Called Ipowerweb hosting company... Zero help...said I should consider
buying a different development tool like dream weaver etc. I have already
invested a lot of time and money learning and using Frontpage... and other
than this new issue and the java issues.. its ok... don't want to have to
totally redesign my web with a different program.

They said it is a Microsoft issue.

Called Satillite company and they said... thought it might be that I need a
static IP address. But that will cost more money to get one. It is already
too expensive.

The router is a "linksys" the wireless card is built into the Toshiba laptop

Right now, I feel like a ping pong ball.

Anyone got any ideas why it isn't working any more?

frontpages FTP works fine, just the frontpage won't upload

Appreciate any ideas..
Thanks Lauren

Are you publishing through a proxy either setup by you or by your new ISP?
You can check that by looking in Internet Explorer in tools/Internet
Options/Connections/LAN settings. You may remember setting that up during
configuration of your new Internet connection. When I moved to a Windows
Server Network and also configured the Proxy server on my Network I could
not publish FrontPage webs through the proxy server and had to put the
http://webaddress.com of the FrontPage webs into an exception list. Things
worked fine after that. This is just a thought. I'm not sure that your
satellite service is using a proxy but the may be.

I just got a new 7000s and I'm having the same problems. Only half of my
websites are locked out. I've tried unchecking the proxy box and attempting
again. No change. I called Hughes and, after a frustrating hour, was told,
"It's a FrontPage thing and we do not support that ...". There was no chance
to explain that it was some kind of configuration thing since I had NO probs
with the 6000.

Could it be some kind of settings at the web host, since some sites work and
some don't?
