New Word document opens template instead

When I try to open a new office document from the start
menu I always get the template (.dot) instead.

The only workaround I could find (after 2 repairs and 2
clean installs) is to open a shortcut hyperlink
(file://....) to normal.dot in the browser. Once
openned, "open new office document" will open a clean .doc
document (by default name of "document1/2/3..." etc.

Any help to fix that will be appreciated.
