Newbie Entourage Questions

Well, I've been handed a copy of Office 2008 and told, "use Entourage for a
bit so you can support it."

Nifty. I have couple of questions though. First off, when reading mail or
posts, I have the preview pane hidden and I hit 'return' to open a message
to read it. This new window always appears at the top left of my screen and
I don't want it there, but moving it does nothing for the next time I open a
new window with return. Paging through a thread, or a whole newsgroup, the
window will stay where I move it, but any reply windows are in the top-left.
How do I control this?

Also, in several newsgroups Entourage is telling me the unread count is 7142
messages, of 117812 messages, but there are no unread messages that show up
in the groups. It seems entourage is looking at the entire history of the
newsgroup, but never resetting the unread count.

OK, I figured out my other issue, but I still don't see anyway to control
where Entourage is going to put a new window.
