newbie exch2003 and outlook2003

for 2003sbs with exch2003 and outlook2003
newly supporting the above, i did not set up the initial install
i created a new user with ad wizard, so it created email account, mailbox,
etc
then i added that new user account to an exisiting outlook2003 already
connected
to another exch mailbox, in the advanced add user section
the outlook directory tree added the new user mailbox and exch accepted
mail for the new user
but that mail is not showing up in the outlook inbox for the new user?
there is something else that needs to be done in exch? or the outlook
client?

Try logging into that mailbox with OWA or Outlook so it can establish the
necessary folders.

t hanks for the reply but not sure what oma is
i have been logged into outlook, that is where i added
the mailbox to the exchange connection and also added
t hat mailbox/user to delegates, with all permissions,
then exited and reopened outlook
the folder for the user is created, its in the outlook directory
tree, but when i try to open it i get the 'unable to display the
folder', 'ms office outlook cannot access the specified folder'
message.
most of the goog hits for the error messages just say to close
and reopen outlook, but that is not working here.

What I am saying is that someone needs to logon to the new mailbox so that
its folders + pointers can get created in the Exchange database. Once that
is done, then you can add it as a secondary mailbox to someone else's
profile providing that the rights have been granted*.


* Delegating the mailbox isn't enough. For example, say UserA delegates the
inbox to UserB. UserB wants to add UserA's mailbox to theirs via the
advanced tab of their Outlook profile. In order to avoid the error message
you received, UserA must grant reviewer rights to the "Mailbox-UserA"
folder. This is done by right click on "Mailbox-UserA" folder and select
properties > Permissions tab and giving them that right.

still not working here
i accessed the new email account (user2) through an email connection with
outlook
express, and did get all the mail, including email from the outlook client
(user1) where
i added the new email (user2) as a delegate
however, i still cannot open the input mailbox for the user2 in the outlook
client, and
i don't even have access to that mailbox properties, they are greyed out.
some permissions needed to be granted by the exch admin?? as well as all the
provisioning and granting done in the outlook client?

then as far as granting user2 access to user1's mail, in say a user2 outlook
client,
(or vice versa) it seems you can do the same thing via
tools/options/delegates, in there
you can grant reviewer, editor, etc, to all the folders, not just input

1) Access User 2's mailbox with Micorsoft Outlook using the Microsoft
Exchange protocol. (POP3/IMAP can't do what we want to do)

2) User 2 goes to delegate tab via Tools > Options in Outlook and setups
whatever delegation they want and selects OK to return to main Microsoft
Outlook windows

3) User 2 right clicks on "Mailbox - User 2" folder and select properties

4) Go to Permissions tab

5) Grant reviewer rights to User 1

6) OK out of properties dialog box and exit Outlook

At this point, User 1 using Microsoft Outlook can add User 2's mailbox to
theirs using the advanced dialog you described.
