Newbie - in progress tasks to status date

I am working on a project where all in progress tasks need
to take into account the passage of time. When we go from
one meeting day to the next, in essence 2 wks have passed.
So all in progress tasks need to add 2 wks to the
remaining duration, with out effecting the percent
complete. For our use, the percent complete is used to
keep track of tasks (within the task) not the duration of
the task or the percentage of work left to be completed.

What can I do?

Hi Sam,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Have you tried Tools/Tracking/Update Project.../Reschedule uncompleted work
to start after: and enter today's date?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

There is % Complete, and there is % Work Complete. It sounds to me
like you really want to be viewing the % Work Complete. The % Complete
is the amount of the Duration that has elapsed, and will change as you
Reschedule Remaining Work. The % Work Complete, however, is based
solely on the amount of Actual Work versus the amount of Work, and
will not change if remaining work is rescheduled. It will only change
if you change the Work estimate, or add Actual Work.

Does the % Work complete forecast finish dates? when a
task doesn't finish before the next meeting, i want to
change the status date and have the task's end date be the
status date. I do this now by changing remaining
duration...

To have Project adjust the Finish dates, you can go to
Tools>Tracking>Update Project and select "Reschedule uncompleted work
to start after:" and enter the status date. Make sure the radio button
for "Entire project" is selected, then click OK. You should do this
every week to keep your project up-to-date.
