Newbie - Insert picture and lock to cell

Is there a way of inserting a picture into a specific cell
rather than having it as a 'floating' image, not locked to
a cell?

Nope, the images (and charts and other objects) are part of the drawing
layer, which floats over the worksheet layer. You can align objects with
the cells so they are "on" the cells, but they are never "in" the cells.

Chris, you can insert an image in the background of a comment. That is my
workaround. Then you decide if you want the comment to stay visible or hide
itself when you move the mouse away from the cell in question.
Insert comment, Format comment (right mouse), Colors & lines, black down
arrow to the right of the color selection, Fill effects, picture, select
picture....

Hope this helps
