Hello all. Any help or insight you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
Let me tell you what I am hoping to do and then I'll entertain any and all
solutions.
I have 5 different geographical sites that each have individual databases
that are updated daily and then one "corporate HQ" that has individual copies
of all 5 databases (separate not merged into one database). These are
currently updated via CD in mail every week because HQ is broadband but
individual sites are dial-up.
Is there a way to have "HQ" Access automatically go out and look for/update
the individual sites databases nightly or weekly (all versions of Access are
the same)? While the dial-up is connected during the day. Or have the
individual sites burst the data to "HQ" when it is online and dialed-up?
Other possible thought... could a virtual desktop solution be downloaded to
each individual database and "HQ" go in and manually burst the database over
the dial-up connection to "HQ"? Primarily the users at individual level are
not very computer skilled and "HQ" would like to eliminate any interaction on
their part versus logging onto the internet via dial-up or simply clicking
one desktop icon to run the update.
Could you estimate cost as well for solution?
Thanks. I'll look forward to your inputs.
