Newbie ? on office 2007 home & Student

C

Charles Eaves

I have office 2003 students and teachers installed.
Today, I bought the 2007 Home and student edition.
I want to keep 2003 office on my hard drive till I get comfortable with Word
2007.
When I install Office 2007 home, do I just hit the configure button.
The upgrade button seems to delete Office 2003 and Word 2002.
Thanks

Thanks.
I reinstalled Office 2007, this time I did a configure/keep old version and
everything installed fine this time.
I registered the software and so far, I am liking Word 2007.
Office 2003 is still on my harddrive.
thanks for the help.

As long as you don't install them in the same folder, you can run both
versions. I'm currently running 4 versions of Publisher.

I installed Office Home and Student 2007 and think I overrode my Microsoft
Office Standard Edition 2003. Now I am unable to open up any new word docs
that are sent to me and existing ones. Help????

1. Hijacking another thread is not polite.

2. What happens when you try?

Sorry, didn't know where to go to post my question when I couldn't open up
the new tab. I apologize for my rudeness.

When I try to open up the document I get the following message:
"Installation error, file not found. A required installation file sku112.cab
could not be found." I checked the add/remove files in my control panel and
have both Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 and Microsoft Office Standard
Edition 2003 installed. Is that my problem? I thought it was possible to have
both.

The web interface is the least friendly interface I've ever seen. Chances
are you have pop-ups blocked. Try holding the Ctrl key down and click New.

That file is on the Office Standard 2003 (Retail) CD. You can have both but
you will have issues with Word and Excel. I recently read something about a
registry change you can make to allow both versions of Word function
HOWEVER...(you saw that one coming, didn't you?) if you aren't a power user
of Windows, I would not recommend messing with the registry. That could
yield a black/silver/tan paperweight in your office.

When you are prompted for that file, put the Office Std CD in the drive and
point to it.
