Newbie -- Please help, modifying start and stop dates

A

Antex

I had a project set up with hypothetical dates of 10/19/04 to 12/24/04. I
then more than doubled the amount of tasks in my project, therefore expanding
out the ending date of the project.

My question is: I want to keep the original dates for the project, tasks,
and sub-tasks. Is there a way to have my dates and associated hours revert
back and automatically update by changing the start and stop? I tried
changing using the analysis tool, but it just then modifies the start or stop
date to well before or well after the dates I want.

Thanks for the help.

See my other post.
Whatever remedy we find it is NOT by manually setting start and finish
dates.
That is the one thing to forget: Project calculates dates, based on the
parameters you give.
And yes, it is a daunting task to try to understnd all calculation rules
just by watching the result: that is like trying to iunderstand how turbo
motor works by watching a Ferrari roar by.
Yopu will have to either study some material or (better) go on a course.

Do you mean you want to keep a copy of the schedule as it was before you
added those tasks so you can see what they did to your original plan? If
so, before adding the new tasks you can save what's known as an internim
plan (in the menu under Tools, Tracking, Save Baseline).
