Newbie Q - Macro to change date in all files

We have about 12000 documents (mostly letters) in Word 95 format stored in
sub-directories under Customers these are a result of mailmerging but all of
the documents when opened show the date as today's date and not the date
they were created. I bought the Word Resource kit but, not being a
programmer, have found it pretty difficult to follow.

I need to go through every file in each sub directory with the name Letters
and change the date from Date to CREATEDATE. Can anyone give me a starting
point. I can create a macro to GoTo the Bookmar, and then change this to
CreateDate, but I obviously want it to go through all the files
automatically, change and save them.

The structure is :
Customers
ThisCompany
Letters
Orders
etc.
AnotherCompany
Letters
Orders
etc.

I would also need to save them back to Word95 format

Any and all help greatly appreciated. Please if recommending a book, can it
be one with examples of doing thing like this.

Many thanks

Many thanks for this example - I think I actually understand it. I will try
it out this week.
Small question, do I save this as a Macro in Normal Dot and then execute the
Macro? I am not quite sure if the term Global Template applies to something
else

Another small question. How will I know that it has processed all of the
files?

Thanks

You should see each document in a folder open, change, and close on the
screen. When all of the files are processed, the screen will stop
flashing.
