Newbie question -- Custom fields in MS Project

Hi,
I am new to MS Project Server. I am developing a stand alone executable
which will access the Project Server database and get all the projects
stored. I want to get the values in the custom fields set for each project.
Where are the values for the custom fields stored? Are these stored in the
MSP_Number_Fields, MSP_Text_Fields of the Project Server SQL database. Or can
I use the Project API to access these fields. Is there a way to access a
project's information (thru' API calls), once I find the project id from the
sql server backend.

Radha,

Download the PDS (project data service) SDK from the m$ website and look through the PDS reference. It's a help file that documents the PDS API - which uses XML and SOAP. Doing your updates via SQL server is do-able but probably more tedious.

Is there some documentation available which tells me where Project stores
information on the SQL server. For example, when we access's a project's
information from API, like say,
ActiveProject.ProjectSummaryTask.BaselineFinish. I would like to know where
BaselineFinish is stored on the SQL server. Will PDS have the required
documentation that I require.

I believer the documents you'd wnat to read are projdb.htm and svrdb.htm. I don't have copies myself so I can't confirm absolutely.
