newbie question: find and replace in records?

I have this database (Access 2000) with several thousands of records. Since
someone decided that some data should be altered some people will have to
spend the rest of the year doing monkey work to replace some text by some
other text. A find/replace function must be available to avoid this
nonsense. (BTW if the database was designed correctly this wouldn't have to
be done but that's another issue).

Can anyone tell me how to replace (a part) the content of a field throughout
all records where a certain (sub)string seems to be present in this field?
