Newbie question - how to not see headers and footers

Hi - I'm new to Word on the Mac and I'm having a hard time finding a way to
do something that is simple in Word for PC. When I'm writing I like to
eliminate the blank white space between pages - the header and footer - so
that I can see my text in one continuous scroll. Is there any way to do
this on Word for the Mac.
Many thanks.

Hi Riel,

Welcome to the Mac!

The feature in WinWord---where you can be in Print Layout view but hide
the headers and footers--is not available in MacWord, sorry. You can
request MS add it by using Help | Send Feedback in Word. If they get
enough requests, they might consider it for a future version of MacWord.

Otherwise, all you can do is switch to View | Draft (or View | Normal
pre-Word 2008---you didn't say which version you were using). That will
hide side as well as top/bottom margins.

Hi Daiya
Thank you for your prompt and accurate response. I'm using 2008. Guess I'll
have to wait for that feature in another round.
Thanks again

Glad to help--you're welcome.

Just a small comment--it's better if you don't change the subject line.
People will usually catch the replies on a thread they are interested in.

Hi Riel:

I would not expect that feature on Mac Word at any time. It was added to
WinWord to make it (more) suitable for use as an email editor when they
decided to use Word as the text editor in Outlook.

There are varying opinions on the appropriateness of using Word as an email
editor. Those with a high tolerance for pain can get used to it. And it is
easier if you allow "Reading Mode" which displays a formatted view without
the headers and footers or page gaps.

Me, I prefer Entourage as an email editor :)

Cheers
