Newbie question on resources

Sorry in advance if I'll be not clear, I'm quite new in project.

I've a (for me) complex problem.
I need to handle two type of projects, one based on resources as persons
(project1) and one based on resources as departments (project2).

The problem is that I need to handle these two projects together, means
persons involved in project1 are same persons working in departments used in
project2.

For example:
in project1 I assign Tom and John to a task; in the same date period I
assign to project2 100% of resource "workers1".

In case Tom and John are members of "workers1" I should see that this
resource is overallocated.

Is there a way to do this?

Hi Carlo,

If you want to evaluate the workload of a resource (or a group of resources)
you can't mix generic and named resources. You have to choose : all generic
or all person resources.
