Hi, I was playing around with a Newsgroup Rule to try and weed out the spam
posts about Viagra.
Applied the rule and ALL the postings disappeared. I Unsubscribed and the re
subscribed, BUT I can only download posts from March 2008 backwards.
How do I reset the Newsgroup to download the most recent Headers?
Any help much appreciated.

The Microsoft newsgroups are pretty much spam free.

Check to see if you marked them read and now have View Unread Only showing.

Note: newsgroup messages are only kept on the servers for a limited amount
of time.

See this rule: Download all complete news messages (for using Entourage as
an offline newsreader)

Hi Diane,
No change I'm afraid. I have news postings from 10pm yesterday until now.
And from 20/3/2008 backwards to 2007 so have a gap from 21/3/2007 to
28/5/2008. I Outlook I would just reset the Newsgroup but I am stumped in
Entourage.

This is a pretty basic question, but have you clicked the "More" button at
the top of the window or chosen either "Get More News Messages" or "Refresh
Message List" from the View menu?

Hi Ed,
Yes. I just download more headers prior to 20/3/2008.

Delete cache no longer works for newsgroup in Entourage 2008. Some possible
workarounds. Unsub then sub again. Rebuild your database (make a backup
first). Create a new Identity just for the newsgroups.

Since the news messages are actually stored in the database, this is a more
drastic approach.
Export everything as Entourage archive (.rge)
Select to Delete after archiving (obviously you want to try this on a copy)
Import the .rge file.

These are all guesses as this has never come up before.

Hi Diane,
Tried all that. No joy. Must stop fiddling. Thanks anyway.

Hi Paul,

Followup regarding your problem with the Entourage newsreader:

Has you tried deleting the Microsoft News Server account from the News tab
under Accounts?

Before doing that, take note of the server name (msnews.microsoft.com) so
that he can set that up again after deleting the account.

If that doesn't work please let me know and I'll investigate further.
