newbie question

Hello and help. I signed up for a course online concerning basic computer
skills in the workplace. The course calls for me to install Microsoft Office.
I tried to install the trial and the installation failed. Regardless, even if
it hadn't failed I would still be puzzled. There seems to be a list of
options that are numerous and I find it confusing to select which one. I
could guess that Excell 2007 is correct but I am not sure at all. I see
Access 2007 and other choices that leave me baffled since it seems I need a
course to help me figure out which one to use and how to use it. The course
starts Wednesday and I need an answer that I can comprehend.
