newbie's bumb question

Anne Bystrom

Hi - why does "cutting" (Cntrl-X) data from a
cell in the spreadsheet result in a moving dotted
line around the cell leaving the contents there.
How do I actually cut?

TIA,
Annie

Annie,

I would guess that it's "Bill's" way of trying to insure that you're
sure of what you're doing.

When you "cut", it's assumed that you want to "paste" somewhere.
If you "forget" to "Paste", the original data isn't altered.
If you actually do the "paste", then the "cut" will delete whatever
was in the original cell.

If you just want to "delete", use that instead.

John
