Hello all,

We are in the process of evaluating PS '03 with the intent for
Consultant based implementation at some point. I have the system up and
running for the most part based on MS's "SameServer" installation
instructions. I am however, missing some step in getting the sample
data to showup remotely. On the server the install reported a correct
load of http://s030gr/Sample but I can't seem to connect to the URL.

Any help appreciated !

PS..... we have not chosen a consultant yet !

Hi Greg,

Quick question based on your URL

Did you create two virtual web servers for your Single Server
installation? For example, One for Project Server using default port 80
and another one for SharePoint using another port, such as 81 or 90.

There must be two virtual servers created to implement Project Server
and SharePoint on the same IIS server with different ports.

Let us know when you have a chance

Cheers,

Rolly,

No I did not.... I think!! I'm alittle green here in this area.
Any direction on documention? I'm trying to get the sample data up and
running for "show and tell". Let me know if you are interested in a
little T&M consulting via WebEx control.

Thanks,

Greg

[This followup was posted to microsoft.public.project.server and a copy

I found there's a problem (actually an omission) with the Project Server
2003 Single Computer Installation Guide. On page 28 they go through the
configuration of IIS, however there is no information stating that there
needs to be two web sites for Project Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint
Services to be installed on the same machine.

So let's create a procedure for this that you would complete at the top
of page 30 in the guide.

To create a web site for Windows SharePoint Services
====================================================
1. In Internet Information Services Manager, from the navigation pane,
expand to Web Sites and right click Web Sites, select New and click Web
Site.
2. In the Web Site Creation Wizard dialog box, click Next.
3. In the Web Site Description dialog box, in the description box, type
WSS and click Next
4. In the Address and Port Settings dialog box, enter the following
settings and click Next:
IP Address Select (All Unassigned) or the IP address used for the
Web Server.
TCP Port* Type 81
Host Header type a host header name or leave blank

*Note: Each web site requires a unique port number and Port 80 (default)
will be used for Project Web Access.

5. In the Web Site Home Directory dialog box, click Browse.
6. In the Browse For Folder dialog box, navigate to C:\Inetpub and click
"Make New Folder" and rename folder from "New Folder" to "WSS" and click
OK.
7. In the Web Site Home Directory dialog box, clear Allow anonymous
access to this Web site and click Next.
8. In the Web Site Access Permissions dialog box, verify that only
"Read" and "Run scripts (such as ASP)" are checked and click Next.
9. In the You have successfully completed the Web Site Creation dialog
box, click Finish.

So now you will have two web sites. One default web site used for
Project Web Access and one called WSS.

On Page 37 under Extend the Virtual Server section, change Step 3 to
read:
3. On the Virtual Server List page, click WSS.

Then continue with the rest of the installation.

Just remember that the SharePoint site URL will be http://
<servername>:81/ and the Project Web Access URL will be http://
<servername>/

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Cheers,
