Newly Created Word Documents blank

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I'm having trouble with newly created Word documents on my Mac. I save it to my Documents folder and quit Word. I then go to open it again, and Word asks me if I want one of the starter 6 document forms instead of just opening up the content of the original. What gives? Any ideas as to why this is happening. It worked fine on our old G5. Thanks, David

Sorry David: Not enough detail about how you are working to answer that
one. How, exactly (numbered steps) are you "opening" the file? What is the
exact text of the message you are seeing (including any numbers if they are
present...)

What is the exact update level of your OS and Word? Get this from
Apple>About... And Word>About...

Cheers

If by " one of the starter 6 document forms " you actually mean the Project
Gallery just turn it off. Go to its Customize page or to Word>Preferences -
General & clear the check on 'Show Project Gallery at startup'.

John-
I have OS X 10.6.3. I double click on the document I recently created and it comes up completely blank. This is after I get the project gallery window and select "New Document"

Correct, I mean the Project Gallery. I have unchecked the box you suggested, hopefully this will help.

If I just open MS Word and select Open from the File menu and select the recently created document, it will open fine. It doesn't make sense that I can't just open the document from the Documents folder directly by double clicking on it

Here's my guess: They're different files :)

The one you think you saved the changes to is the one that appears in
Project Gallery window.

The one you actually changed is the one in Finder.

I suggest that you do a search for the File Name in Finder. What's the bet
you will see two of them :) Look at the "Changed Date" ‹ which is which?

Personally, I never bother with Project Gallery: I am not sure what it's
supposed to do, But I find it only adds to the confusion...

Cheers
