What is the best practice for changing an email address for a newly married
user who wants her name changed? How can I prevent her from losing any email
sent to her old address?

I'm assuming this user is part of the corporate exchange email system
correct? If so, just add an alias for old username after rename the user
account.

Need a lot more info. If you're using Exchange, you need to change her
account properties to reflect the new name and add her new email address as
the default, without removing the old one. What version of Exchange?
