"News" menu item no longer available

I earlier went to the help item for newsgroups entitled "Start the newsgroup
reader". I followed directions and successfully installed the "news" menu
item in the "Go" menu. I later closed Access and when I reopened it, the
news item is no longer on the menu. I thought that was strange but no
problem, I'll just go back to Customize and put it back up. I went to
Customize, clicked on the "Go" category under the "Commands" tab and went to
look for "News" in the "Commands" listbox but it wasn't there any more. I
looked at all the other menus thinking that I may have accidentally dropped
it on one of them instead. Nope, it wasn't there. I tried resetting the
menus. It still didn't appear in the customize menu nor the "Go" menu. I
"repaired" office but no lock and finally went to the radical step of
removing all of Office and reinstalling. It still doesn't appear in the
customize menu. It seems I've lost this and it's nowhere to be found.
Anybody have any kind of idea where I can find it again?

Thanks!

Make sure OE is set as the default newsreader in Control Panel-> Internet
Options-> tab Programs

Fixed the problem. Thanks a lot! Still, seems like a definite bug going on
here, albeit there's a workaround. OE was my default newsreader before I
installed Outlook because it had popped up before when I went to newsgroups.
I notice that when I go into the newsreader from Outlook it asks if I want to
make Outlook my default newsreader. I'm sure I must have said "Yes" the
first time thinking naively that this invocation was an invocation of
"Outlook" as my newsreader. When I went to make your suggested change, the
default newsreader field was blank so I don't know what that means exactly.

I wonder if this isn't a problem with an interaction between IE7 which I'm
using and Outlook. Perhaps in IE6, it allowed Outlook as a newsreader, but
when I went to the default newsreader field to enter OE, it was blank and OE
was the only option on the dropdown so perhaps IE7 somehow disallows this and
that's where my problems arise from.

Still, in the end, it would seem like the best thing would be to leave the
"News" menu intact and bring up a messagebox stating that there is no default
newsreader assigned and instructions on how to assign it rather than just
banishing the menu item forever.

In any event, thanks for the help!
