Newsreader broken - BETA 2003

Brett

I haven't previously had any problems using the
newsreader in the 2003 beta. Today, however, when I hit
the 'News' button on the Outlook toolbar, I am taken to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\MSMAPI\1033. I
assume somehow the link to the newsreader was broken in
the registry..

Does anyone know what the executable filename is for the
newsreader, and how to re-establish the link from the
Outlook toolbar button to this file?

Thanks,
Brett

The command most often used for the newsreader is:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe /newsonly". Yep. you guessed
it: the newsreader is Outlook Express in "newsonly" mode. In previous
versions of Outlook, it said "Outlook Newsreader" at the head of the the
Folder View. However, Outlook contains no native newsreader, and uses what
ever the default Windows newsreader is -- in many cases, this is Outlook
Express, in "newsonly" mode.

You might open Internet Options, and click on the "Programs" tab, and make
sure Outlook Express is set as the default newsreader. Also make sure it is
set as the default newsreader within Outlook Express.
