Next year

Some help needed for a real novice.

My project administers a school examinations cycle with a duration of one
year. So, when a task is completed I need to roll it forward to the
corresponding date next year. So, I need a way of selecting one or more
tasks and replacing the Actual Start Dates in 2008 with the corresponding
dates in 2009. I can do it manually, but I suspect that Project provides an
easier way.

Many thanks in anticipation of some help

That doesn't sound like a project management situation at all. Projects are
time limited and produce a specific, unique, deliverable. What you're
describing is open ended, one year leading to the next and so on without any
real ending date. If one year's term can be considered a complete sequence,
then instead of rolling exams forward from one year to the next, consider
each year a project plan and save a template of all of the events in a given
year. Then as you plan each subsequent year, create a new, compaletely
separate, file for that year alone based on the template.

Many thanks for this advice. It all makes a lot of sense, and I will do as
you suggest.
