NK2 file contents are gone after reboot

The cached names are gone after reboot. Renamed existing NK2 file so a new
NK2 file will be created but that did not resolve the issue. Created a new
Outlook profile and that did not resolve the issue. The new Outlook profile
created a different named NK2 file but that does not retain the cached names
after a reboot.

Does anybody have any ideas.

The usual fix that works in 99% of cases is a new mail profile. State the
steps you used to create the profile. If you copied an existing profile to
a new one, that would explain why the new one didn't fix the problem.

Created a new profile:

Go to Control Panel and select Mail
Click on Show Profiles button
Click Add and proceeded on creating a new account with the Exchange settings.

No, the original profile was not copied.
I am monitoring the task manager (outlook.exe process) and the file to see
if it updates when Outlook is closed. It's hard to duplicate but it seems
sometimes closing Outlook doesn't necessarily end the process. It is at this
time when the NK2 file doesn't update.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks.

This makes sense, since Outlook doesn't write changes to the NK2 file until
it closes. Try to find out what's keeping it open. Some things to examine
are here: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.asp
