NNTP server going down what does this mean?

I noticed in a post that Microsoft is taking down the NNTP server and
that responses might not come as quickly. What does this mean. Are the
Google groups going too and we're supposed to go to Mactopia. I
respond to stuff here via Google and the mail that is delivered every
night around 3.

I don't use Mactopia as its rather pathetic. I'm not overly keen on
Google groups either. Both support systems don't in any way measure up
to the competition. I just don't know what this NNTP withdrawal
implies.

It means that the messages from MacTopia won’t be mirrored on the nntp group.
The group will still exist and Google will still mirror it, but it
won’t sync with MacTopia anymore.
It also means that the news.microsoft.com server will no longer be online.

I don't use MacTopia either. I'll ask around to see what other
solutions we'll have.

Totally agree. We do have a mailing list for Entourage called YouTalk. After
the Entourage Talk List was discontinued most members moved to YouTalk. It¹s
very low traffic.
