No access

I'm trying to connect Entourage 12.1.9 to an Exchange server but have no luck getting access to the Inbox and Calendar.

These are the facts:
1) At startup Entourage displays a message about a certificate mismatch.
2) Upon clicking Continue Entourage seems to connect but doesn't show the Inbox below the account in the sidebar.
3) The computer is bound to the local domain and can connect to fileservers.

I've tried setting up the account manually, tried to set the hostname to "mail.example.com" (as opposed to "exch1.[example.com]") and gone to the webmail to get the certificate and marked it as trusted.

What am I missing?

The console repeatedly shows this error message:
"Jul 7 13:51:39 macbook /Applications/Microsoft
Office 2008/Microsoft Entourage.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft
Entourage[1089]: Warning: accessing obsolete X509Anchors."

Configure Entourage with Explicit OWA URL mentioned in KB931350
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931350) and see if this helps in connecting
to the mailbox.
