No association from attachment but OK from saved attachment

When double-clicking a .pps attachment I get an error that there is no
program association, even though the correct association is set in Folder
Options.

However, if I save the file to My Documents I can double-click it and it
opens correctly in PowerPoint. Is this an IE problem or PowerPoint? I'll
cross post anyway.
