This is a MAJOR issue and it will take a GURU to solve-

How do I insert files into the notes of a vcard like in outlook?

My whole office is on PCs and is switching to a lead system where all necessary files will be attached to a lead's contact card in outlook. I'm working at home on a mac though in Entourage 2008.

When I login online, the lead's audio recording is in the vcard, but in entourage it's gone! On top of that I can't attach files to vcards!

I tried using "link" and selecting the file but then when I send the contact card to my assistant for data entry the file is no longer attached.

HELP!

This feature simply isn't supported by Entourage.

While this may be a feature of Outlook for Windows, keep in mind that
this is probably a feature *only* Outlook for Windows supports. I don't
believe the VCF format standards support attachments.

Be sure to do your research into VCard standards before you adopt this
approach for your leads. You may not only lock yourself into using
Outlook for Windows but you may effectively lock yourself out of other
options. That includes mobile devices as well as other computer
applications.

I'm not a VCard expert and I may be wrong, but I've never heard of other
address book applications supporting file attachments as part of a VCard
standard.

Hope this helps!

Yes I have to have this feature unfortunately- Entourage is much better to work with but I have had to use Outlook through Parallels.

Another feature that is not supported is required by my office is the syncing of categories for shared contacts in a public folder.

If Entourage just had those two things I could use Entourage.

Any Scripts/ plugins for this sort of thing?

A couple HUGE requests for the next update:

1) Drag and drop files into notes section of contact cards in public folders (like in outlook)

2) Category sync over exchange for public folder contacts (like in outlook)

3) Favorites bar save public folder shortcuts upon closing

4) Reminder and automatic task-list entry support for public folder shared contact follow up flags

5) Complex HTML Email signature support- key elements being remotely hosted images (no attachments showing up in email) and text to the right / left of image

6) Real, complex HTML email viewing support

Thank you.

Diane and Bill- is there a convenient work around for me? After a week using outlook in parallels I like Entourage much better. Main reason being the addition of flagged shared contacts inside public folders to my calendar, task list and my day. To work in Entourage completely I would need to SOMEHOW (I guess through a work around) do these three things:

1) Insert files into notes in Entourage. Possible work arounds:
A) Hyperlink iDisk shared files into the notes of a contact
B) Link to files in a shared server drive using Cisco VPN??????
C) Use the project center somehow and share a project with my assistant who uses outlook 2007???
D) Any other ideas?

2) Sync Categories from the server to Entourage and Vice Versa. Possible work arounds:
A) Constantly update outlook contact categories when I update them in Entourage
B) Update the category only when I need to- most categories are for my reference but when I submit a deal for approval thats when my admin team needs to see it so I could upload the file to the contact and set the category at the time I submit
C) Any other ideas- is there a script for this I hope!?!?!?!

3) Send complex HTML emails as templates and have a complex HTML email signature- In other words I want my email signature not to contain attachments but show remotely hosted images, and overlap- my email signature contains a logo next to three lines of text which just wouldn't work in Entourage and also it contains a reference to a remotely hosted gif that signs my signature after a 5 second delay (pretty cool) can only do it in Apple Mail right now though so I send all mail from Apple mail.
Possible work around: a) If I remove the gif I can use a script I found to insert the rest of the html signature but it's kind of a pain- every time I send a message I have to choose the script and select three sequential menu items. Any better ideas?
