No Audio from Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop, WIndows XP system

Hi;

Suddenly Audio stopped on my Laptop. I ran the hardware diagnostics and
audio is available from Speaker and headset. Computer has Sigmatel audio
device.
Everything was workinga week ago. I did the system restore.
However, no sound is audible; even the system sounds, beeps. I did reload
the audio driver and all the windows Xp updates.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
