no auto reply in Out of Office assistant

We're using Exchange 2003 with OutlookXP on our LAN & when any user sets the
out of office assistant to auto reply, only contacts in Exchange are replied
to, so most external mail is not replied to. The assistant does correctly
delete any mailif the rule is set, just doesn't sauto-reply to exteral email
addresses

I think that's a setting on the Exchange Server to allow automated replies
to external addresses. Check with your mail admin.

I'll try that - but does anyone have any idea how to do that (allow
auto-replies to external email addresses)?

It's a (good) setting your IT guys use to stop spammers from getting Out Of
Office messages (thus validating your address).

Everyone - turn on your Advanced Toolbars and learn how to use the Field
Chooser and Group by Box!!

I found the solution in the Exchange Server newsgroup
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/co...net-exch2000&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1

Was a simple setting.

Funny thing is I AM the IT guy! Sounds bad I know but we're a public school
so we kind of rely on these forums & fumbling around a bit!

I'll have to think about that spam email validation thingy though . . .
