No Blank Document to type a letter

Hi:
Word 2000, XP with IE 6.
Instead getting a blank document in my attempts to type a new letter,
there is always a previous letter I typed showing up.
It says, Document 1, and Document 2 with previous letter instead of
getting a blank document. Then, I am unable to get a blank document
to type.

What issue am I having?

How to correct this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi:
Thanks for the response.

I have CD for Word 2000.

I plan to 'uninstall'/'install' route.
Because, it seems to me this method is more
easy for me.

Your opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Uninstalling and reinstalling will not solve the problem because it will not
delete Normal.dot. Clearing or renaming Normal.dot is what is required.

Hi Suzanne S. Barnhill:
I tried it several times, clearing Normal. dot.,
however for some reason, I still have an issue.

Could you guide me in detail?
Because, this issue was started after superscript application,
strange to say. What is wrong with this?

Thanks again,

Hi Suzanne S. Barnhill:
After few more tries, it's done.

Thanks for a very helpful and detailed instruction
you wrote in your web-site.

Thanks again.
