No category categories field during import

Peter Sale

I am attempting to import a 1000+ entry address book from Palm Desktop into
Entourage 2001 for Mac. The procedure is as follows.
1. Export address book as Tab delimited file from Palm Desktop.
2. Close Palm Desktop
3. Import the Tab delimited file containing the Palm Desktop address book
into Entourage via File=>Import=>Tab Delimited file
4. Manually match up the Entourage fields with the appropriate Palm Desktop
fields. Note that the Category 1 and Category 2 fields ARE present in the
Tab Delimited file.

The problem is that there is no matching Category 1 or 2 field on the
Entourage side of the Entourage's import dialog. This is surprising because
Entourage supports Categories?!

Does anyone know how I might include Categories present in Palm Desktop's
address book into the entries that are imported into Entourage's address
book?

Use my shareware scripts "Export-Import Entourage X" from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

For Contacts, you just need to run "Apply Categories to Contacts" script
after doing all those steps above. There are also scripts to import your
calendar (datebook), todos and memos, with categories. See the "Other
Programs" section of the ReadMe, near the end.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your prompt response to my question.

1. As I indicated in my first post, I am working with Entourage 2001 for
Mac, not Entourage X. Can I still use your shareware scripts
"Export-Import Entourage X 1.2.10 " with Entourage 2001 running under OS
9.2?

2. I searched your web site <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>
for "Apply Categories to Contacts", and came up empty. I'm guessing this
is because "Apply Categories to Contacts" is compressed as one of the
scripts within "Export-Import Entourage X?" Otherwise, what is missing (or
added) in error to my search?

No. You can use "Export-Import Entourage 2001" available at the same
website. It's also at v1.2.10.

It's also in Export-Import Entourage 2001. Not standalone, correct.
