No Clear Contents in Word 2007

In Word 2007, the user cannot clear contents by the Clear Contents command.
It is especially valuable in editing tables. Please put it back!

I'm looking at Word 2003, and there is no Clear Contents command there,
either; nor do I remember any such command in any previous version. Where
did you see it, and exactly what did it do? Maybe you (or someone else)
programmed a macro for it?

In any version, if you select a table and press the Delete key, the text in
the selected cells is removed but the table itself stays there. Maybe this
is what you want?

It's still there, you just don't have an Edit menu to go to :)

Hit the Office button, click Word Options> Customize, then select Commands
not in the Ribbon from the Choose commands from: list & add the Clear
command to the QAT.

Oh, _that_ Clear Contents -- in 2003 and earlier, Edit > Clear > Contents,
whose keyboard shortcut is the Delete key. Now, explain to me why you would
rather use three clicks instead of one keypress...

As CyberTaz says, you can add a button to the Quick Access Toolbar for this
command; but it will be the anonymous "we didn't bother with an icon for
this one" green circle, and its keyboard shortcut is _still_ just the Delete
key.
