No Custom Dictionary Exists Error

This is happening for one user on a Terminal Server on Server 2003 SP1.

Outlook 2003, SP2.

Spellcheck is forced for each message via Group Policy.

When the spellcheck runs, Outlook displays the message:

"No custom dictionary exists. Would you like to create one?".

On answering "OK", it displays the error:

"There was an error creating the custom dictionary"

Nothing is written to the event logs. Deleting and recreating the user's
Outlook profile does not fix it.

Other users are not experiencing this error, spellcheck works fine. I
suspect there is something bad in the user profile but don't know where to
look next.

Ideas anyone?

I was able to fix this by deleting the entire user profile from Terminal
Server. Kludgy but it worked. Would be nice if someone knew how to correct
this.

Check the *.dic files (normally it´s custom.dic) in the
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof folder.
Move them into a temporary directory (Office should be closed), then add a
new word in office to the user dictionary. Now a new custom.dic should be
created. Try to refill it with the old values from the backuped file via copy
and paste if you want to recycle the old data. If you get the same error
again, look in the file if you see any strange entries.
This steps solved the problem on my pc with the same error message you
described.
