Are you talking about text not appearing in the formula bar (which has
an "fx" button to the left of the formula input box)?

How did you transfer data from the WinXL spreadsheet?

Is there any protection applied to the worksheet(s)?

Hi, I am talking about the clear box underneath the tool bar on top.
I transferred using a flash drive. I think I may have figured part of it out. I needed to double click the box i want to edit. I appreciate you taking the time to read and respond. I am embarassed to ask such a question, but am making a transition from pc and I am so green, and, of course, in a hurry to get my sales in the spreadsheet. Many thanks.

I have a 100% Mac Excel 2008 sheet and the text is not appearing in
the formula bar. In fact, I am seeing other display problems with
Snow Leopard and Excel 2008, such as text in cells not displaying
unless bold, italic, etc.

Just a guess since I haven't yet gone to SL, but I understand that it is
causing some rather weird issues which seem to be font related.

Run the OS X app Font Book, use the Resolve Duplicates & the Validate Fonts
routines, Repair Disk Permissions, then do a complete shut down. Wait about
a minute or so before you start the Mac up again. See how that does.
